Kelty Green River 6 Tent Review
The Kelty Green River 6 tent is designed as a two season tent. This tent is rather large and weights about 30 pounds. As you can imagine it is designed for car camping or as a base camp style tent. The tent offers one door and no windows. It is designed as a freestanding style tent. Most owners are pleased with this tent once they have tried it out.
Tent Size
This tent offers 121 square feet of floor space and with the vestibule that provides another 83 square feet of covered area you have quite a bit of room.
Several owners appreciate how the full height of the tent starts just inside the door rather then slowly getting higher until you reach the middle as is typical on doom tents. This makes it easier for everyone using the tent to be able to stand up and move around with ease.
There is plenty of room for a queen and 2 twin air mattresses as well as some extra space for moving around and storing gear. Another combination would be one queen with lots of space for storage. Remember there is that vestibule where you can sit out of the rain as needed and or store extra gear out of the weather.
To help you better picture the room available in this tent three adults and three kids still leaves plenty of room for gear inside the tent.
Weather Proof
Owners of the Green River 6 say this thing is very weather proof. It keeps the rain out and can stand up to the wind. The vestibule also is a great place to keep things dry or hang out in a camp chair until the rain passes. One family spent 36 hours in the tent while it rained the whole time. They stayed dry and utilized the vestibule where they had 2 adult and 2 child camp chairs setup to pass the time.
Ventilation
The ventilation on this tent comes from much of the top of the tent being mesh that the rain fly covers. So on a hot night you might want to role up the rain fly some to let in more air. You can also role up the sides of the vestibule for more airflow as well.
Setup
Setup can be a bit challenging for one person but can be done. Two adult and a 10 year old set it up in the rain in around 5 minutes. But it would be best to not try this without having set the tent up first a couple times. You should always setup your tent at home once or twice before you take it out for real. This way you can get the hang of it and be sure that everything is in working order and there are no surprises.
A few people have mentioned problems with the poles; they are long and can be a bit of a challenge setting the tent up in a tight space. Also some people have run into trouble with the poles splitting when they first setup the tent. Again this is something you can work through if you setup first at home. If there are issues with the poles get in touch with Kelty as they are good about taking care of any issues you might have.
Wrap Up
The majority of people who have bought and used the Kelty Green River 6 tent really enjoy it. In the end this tent is rated 4 Stars out of 5 by owners. This is a great tent that you can enjoy camping in for many summers to come.
