Kelty (owned by American Recreation Products) is a manufacturer of backpacks, tents, and sleeping bags. They are currently based in Boulder, Colorado and were started by Asher “Dick” Kelty (Sep. 13, 1919 - Jan. 12, 2004), who was one of the first gear designers to produce and market an external-frame backpack designed specifically for civilian use rather than military.
