Camping Dinner Recipes: Start Here

There are some incredibly wonderful camping recipes whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Meal time is one of the better times when camping. Yes, time with friends and family and maybe out in the quite wilderness is nice but have some great food makes it special.

Hungry for Barbecue Pork

Whether you are just camping with a couple friends or the whole family, this is one of the first camping food recipes that you will want to try. When it comes to camping food recipes this one is quite simple, and all you need is 1 lb. pork tenderloin, 2 tablespoons honey, 3 tablespoons light soy sauce, 2 tablespoons Hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons ketchup, 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce, 1 tablespoon Sherry, 1 clove garlic, and 1 tablespoon sugar.

Now to prepare you just trim the meat and cut into strips, then combine the remaining ingredients into a bowl and pour over the pork. You want to marinate the meat for a couple of hours, longer if possible, and then skewer pork with steel hangers and hang onto top rack of oven over shallow roasting pan containing just a few inches of water.

Cooking Time

Now you just roast the pork for about 20 minutes at 425ºF, and with baster, coat with drippings every five minutes or so. This will keep the meat tender and juicy. Reduce the heat and roast for a couple minute more. Then you want to take out and slice each strip diagonally against the grain.

Serving Barbecue Pork

Serve cold, and you can dip with Chinese hot mustard and sesame seeds, to add that perfect finishing touch.

Smores: Dessert Time

One of the all time favorite camping food recipes is for smores. This is one of the quickest and easiest camping recipes you will ever make. All you need for it is 1 cup butter, 1/3 cup white sugar, 3 cups graham cracker crumbs, 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips, and 3 cups of miniature marshmallows.

Preheat the oven, and then in a medium bowl you want to combine the butter, sugar and graham cracker crumbs until well coated. Then you press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan, and top with the chocolate chips, and then follow with the marshmallows. Now you want to sprinkle the remaining graham cracker mixture over the marshmallows and press down with a spatula.

Of course the other approach is to get some good coals going in the camp fire. Then grab something like a barbecue basket and build your own smore. Just put the graham cracker, chocolate and marshmallow all together and then put it over the fire until gooey.

After a meal like that you can sit back and watch the stares come out being as content as can be!
